When we met in an NYU graduate art program in the mid 1990’s, we recognized our mutual interest and love for collecting the past. Our professional experiences each bring something different to Stewart Leshé Collections. Carrie Stewart comes to the gallery from the film and television industry where she’s worked a set decorator, developing a love of real life interior spaces. Her affinity for antique and furniture collecting complement partner Greg Leshé, whose background and interests encompass more of the fine and decorative arts. Trained as a sculptor and fine art photographer, he has worked for the past 20 years on various commercial and fine art projects. Greg remains active in the arts community, both as an artist and advisor to galleries and arts councils. In January 2007, we first opened our gallery in a 19th Century building located in Millburn, NJ. In this space, we realized our vision presenting our unique collection in a series of spaces that strike a balance between home interior design and an art gallery environment. Our collection features a distinctive, yet eclectic range of furnishings, decorative objects, and artworks spanning three centuries of production. We are committed to supporting and exhibiting contemporary artists who work in a diverse range of media, subjects, and interests, from emerging through notable, advanced careers. Our belief that, many forms of art can be experienced in the context of a real life interior space as an alternative to the conventional, often intimidating, gallery environment, can be summed up in three words: art, life, antiques. |
